What does the EDM Club do?
Production
In the winter of 2008 we started an activity called “Music Production Workshops.” We are planning to continue this activity this year. In the workshops, a couple club members teach other members how to mix, edit, and produce in computer software such as Ableton Live, Virtual DJ, Traktor, Soundtrack Pro, and Logic. We encourage talent to produce quality music with aspirations of getting signed by record labels.
Radio and Web Broadcasting
We network with radio and web broadcasting organizations to get our DJs on the air. We are planning to stream electronic music on the web via a private server this year.

-Synchronicity Sessions: The RIT EDM Club joined forces with the RIT college radio station, WITR 89.7 FM. In the spring quarter of 2008, “Synchronicity Sessions” was broadcast on the radio and on witr.rit.edu on Friday nights from 8-10 PM. EDM DJs provided live and prerecorded mixes for the show.
Events at RIT
We network with Major Student Organizations and other large student-run clubs throughout the year to get our DJs hired for music events on the RIT Campus.
Some notable events that we have been a part of in the past…
-RIT Glow in the Dark Dance Party 2007: RIT EDM Club President Ryan Gaynor and affiliated EDM club member John Glass spun at the “Glow in the Dark Dance Party,” a show sponsored by RIT’s College Activities Board. An estimated 500 students attended by the peak time in the night.
-RIT Glow in the Dark Dance Party 2008: The EDM Club Co-Sponsored the second major “Glow in the Dark Dance Party” show with RIT’s College Activities Board. Five EDM Club DJs spun live at the show. An estimated 350 students attended by the peak time in the night.
-UPCOMING: RIT Glow in the Dark 2009: We are planning to co-sponsor the next “Glow in the Dark” show with College Activities Board.
Weekly Meetings
The RIT EDM holds weekly meetings, where we discuss important topics such as upcoming events, radio broadcasting, music production, the latest in DJ talent and equipment, and many other club-relevant topics.
Fundraisers
This year we are planning to do some Fundraisers. We will be selling items at music events and other EDM club events.

Podcast
The EDM Club is throwing out the idea of having a podcast on iTunes, showcasing talent in music production and DJing. This could be made available in the next few months. Some members already have started their own podcasts and updated those regularly.
Rochester Club Events
We discuss information about local Rochester EDM club events as they happen during the year, and promote or support members DJing at these events.
